Your teeth are strong bones that help you eat, talk, and even smile. However, they aren’t indestructible. This is why Dr. Daniel McKay and our dental team encourage you to take good care of your teeth and gums by keeping up on oral hygiene. Today, we would like to tell you about a top-notch brushing routine so you can adjust your techniques and achieve the strong oral health you deserve.

The first thing you need to do is grab your soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Put a strip of paste on the toothbrush bristles and briefly run the brush under water.

The second thing you need to do is hold your brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums and then stroke the brush back and forth along the entire tooth. Make sure you clean the inner, outer, and top surfaces of each tooth in your smile. When you clean the inside of a tooth, it might seem difficult, but all you need to do is tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes.

The third thing you need to do is brush your tongue after you’ve brushed your teeth. You can do so by running the bristles over the tongue’s surface. Use long, vertical strokes as you clean the entire muscle. This can wash the bacteria from your tongue away and freshen your breath.
